EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) — Oilers winger Zach Hyman suffered an upper-body injury against the Stars in Game 4 of the NHL’s Western Conference final on Tuesday night.
Hyman took a glancing hit from Dallas forward Mason Marchment in the first period and dropped his stick, favoring his right arm, before heading straight down the tunnel to Edmonton’s locker room.
The 32-year-old Hyman, who scored twice in Game 3, didn’t join his teammates to start the second period. He led the postseason with 109 hits — 27 more than Florida Panthers center Sam Bennett in the No. 2 spot — to go along with five goals and six assists entering play.
A staple on superstar center Connor McDavid’s line, the Toronto native had 27 goals and 17 assists across 73 games in the regular season.
Edmonton was also minus winger Connor Brown on Tuesday after he took a big hit in Game 3. Oilers defenseman Mattias Ekholm, who hasn’t played in the playoffs due to a lower-body injury, is nearing a return, but didn’t dress Tuesday.
